After travelling the globe heading up Business Development for the Intrawest resort company the Global Financial Crisis provided Herbert an opportunity to chart a new path and start PowerPlay Destination Properties with his trusted partners. In its first 6 years PowerPlay has represented over $2 billion in projects in California, Hawaii, and Texas, as well as Australia, and Mexico.
Along with being highly entrepreneurial Herbert has extensive senior management and executive experience in managing sales teams and working with developers on bringing ambitious projects to life. He is extremely passionate about working with clients early in the development cycle to craft the perfect offering with precise targeting for the end buyer.
Previous roles include Vice President of Business Development and Southeast business unit Manager for Playground, an Intrawest Company. In this role Herbert was responsible for the negotiation of over 18 major resort projects in the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica. This included listing creation and finalization, transition into project mobilization, sales strategy envisioning and sales team handoff for sales execution.
Prior to joining Playground, Herbert was President at Sierra Designs a specialty outdoor company selling to more than 1,200 North American specialty retailers and international licensees in Europe, Asia and South America. Mark also led Sierra Designs’ military product efforts resulting in contracts with US Special Forces for Operation Enduring Freedom.
He has international experience in United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Costa Rica and has worked with prestigious hotel brands like Rosewood, Canyon Ranch and Four Seasons.
Mark is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and sits on the Resort Development Council. He is currently a resident of Colorado where he enjoys the great outdoors with wife Michelle and daughter Lucy.
